On Wednesday night 6/1/09 4 of us set out to show a little of the love of Jesus in downtown KC. We could of stayed home and facebooked or played PS2 or went to a movie or even flipped channels. But instead we had the idea of making sandwiches and getting some fruit and water and handing it out Wednesday night for God's guys. What a remarkable experience the four of us had Wednesday night. We came into contact with guys named Sonny, Bobby and Robert. We were n [...]

I have challenged our non-bloggers to become bloggers...I have figured out in my 8 years we have sent 1200 plus students/adults on Mission trips. You often hear within Youth Ministry that numbers don't matter...that it is all about being faithful to Jesus and laying out the Banquet table. I feel like we have done that in my time at Stanley. But probably the one thing that has given the greatest happiness is our Mission Trips over the years. There are so many [...]

At my other Church........

This expression has been an ongoing humourous statement over the last 3 years. It seems over the last few years that there is always someone who starts their sentence with "At my other Church", and then goes on to share what their church is doing. This always takes place in my Church. It used to make me sad and feel as though we (Stanley) were a second team Church. But of recent I find humor in the "At my other Church" and I no longer spin to a path [...]

Each year we venture out across the country as a Youth Group to be the Hands and Feet of Jesus. Sometimes we travel by bus or sometimes we travel by air, but the purpose is the same no matter how we travel. The purpose is make a difference in the name of Jesus. The hidden purpose is for us to grow closer as a group. In the famous words of Laurie Anderson," we travel so far to grow so close." As we journey, we wonder, what is going to happen this year?&n [...]

Prayer....

Last night we had short massages and Shannon and I were able to pray over those who were in The Cave. I feel closer to God more than ever when I have the opportunity to pray over you or even pray for you when you are unaware. There were tears, laughter, nervousness, and even relief! My hope is that you take time to practice these prayer techniques: The Centering prayer, the prayer of discernment, and doing your own guided imagery. You can do these things in your room or somewhe [...]

Something to Think about....

I heard a story today about a group of Christians in a Muslim country..it is acutally a criminal offense to become a Christian in a Muslim country. This group would meet during the week and in order to pray that would run a diesel engine so that their prayers could not be heard by those outside. They would pray as the engine would run. They went to that extreme to pray. We are able to meet and pray and not worry about being arrested. Yet, how often do we forget to p [...]

The Dream Center

I am currently visiting the Dream Center in LA. I have been here a day, and I have been blown away by what all goes on here. As a High School Youth Group our Mission Trip is here this summer June 8th-14th. I heard an amazing testimony last night from a man who has been in the DC program for 3 years. He had Meth issues, drinking issues, and severe family issues. He was able to break free from all of these things by steady path and consistent path of faith. He surround himself with peopl [...]

My hope is that each of you did small thing with a great amount of love. Was this Christmas about love? How did you treat this Christmas? With the New Year coming, what are you going to do different? How are you going to seek out God? What will your life look like? What will your life smell like? What things are going to try to concentrate on? My challenge to you is that YOU DO SOMETHING different. How you can you listen to the small voice of [...]

This Sunday is Youth Sunday..of sorts. Come hear Robel, KP, Shelf, and Ryan Hart share their stories of faith. The Theme is ashes to action. Last year we had people write down the things that they needed God to provide for them. These prayers are now ashes. These ashes will be in front of the congregation this Sunday. Perhaps you recall what you wrote? Has God provided those things for you? Have you prayed about those things? What action have [...]

It is important to know the reason that we created the blog. It is our hope that you will encourage each other in your faith and maybe even reflect on what God may be doing in your life. Our goal is not to recreate facebook. Your faith story matters to the Church, and more important it reflects what God is doing in your life. Please be careful in what you write and your thought reflection. Pastor Eric will be a part of this blog as well. I will leave you with th [...]
