Are you hungry?

Posted by Harlan Harper in myblog

On Wednesday night 6/1/09 4 of us set out to show a little of the love of Jesus in downtown KC.  We could of stayed home and facebooked or played PS2 or went to a movie or even flipped channels.  But instead we had the idea of making sandwiches and getting some fruit and water and handing it out Wednesday night for God's guys.  What a remarkable experience the four of us had Wednesday night.  We came into contact with guys named Sonny, Bobby and Robert.  We were not sure what was going to happen with this experience, but we thought with God's help we will find

I have challenged our non-bloggers to become bloggers...I have figured out in my 8 years we have sent 1200 plus students/adults on Mission trips.  You often hear within Youth Ministry that numbers don't matter...that it is all about being faithful to Jesus and laying out the Banquet table.   I feel like we have done that in my time at Stanley.  But probably the one thing that has given the greatest happiness is our Mission Trips over the years.  There are so many darn memories...my first with the Church involved a small group of JH students..we ventured down to

Miracles of Mission Trips

Posted by Harlan Harper in Untagged

Each year we venture out across the country as a Youth Group to be the Hands and Feet of Jesus.  Sometimes we travel by bus or sometimes we travel by air, but the purpose is the same no matter how we travel.  The purpose is make a difference in the name of Jesus.  The hidden purpose is for us to grow closer as a group.  In the famous words of Laurie Anderson," we travel so far to grow so close."  As we journey, we wonder, what is going to happen this year?  What is God going to do through me?  What new friends is God going to place in my life?
